Back to Life at Marketnode

Ownership that grows with you.

Jimmy NguyenJimmy NguyenHead of Engineering

Jimmy has grown from engineer to engineering leadership at Marketnode. His growth has been from delivering the solution to creating the conditions for a team to build good solutions together.

There is space to grow as the company grows. If you can take on more responsibility, you have the opportunity to step forward and make a bigger impact.

Ownership that grows

For Jimmy, engineering has never been only about writing code. As an engineer, he owned technical delivery. As a tech lead, he took on more solution design. Today, as Head of Engineering, much of his role is about helping the team make good decisions about the systems they build.

There is space for people to grow as the company grows. If you have the capacity, you can take on more responsibility, show what you can contribute and make a bigger impact.

That progression reflects how Jimmy sees career growth at Marketnode. People can bring ideas forward, challenge existing approaches and step into more responsibility when they are ready.

Helping others solve the problem

Outside work, Jimmy has found another place to practise a different side of leadership.

He volunteers with primary school students on robotics and coding projects. The technical subject matter is familiar, but coaching children requires a different skill: resisting the urge to give them the answer.

The challenge is helping them understand the problem and think through the solution themselves. When something they expect to work doesn’t work, you have to help them stay motivated and look at the problem differently.

That experience has reinforced the way he leads at Marketnode too. People need context, not just tasks. They need enough room to work through a problem themselves, while knowing support is there when they need it.

People here are practical and collaborative. Everyone shares context and challenges ideas, but they also step in when support is needed.

For Jimmy, ownership and collaboration go together. His own growth has been from delivering the solution to creating the conditions for a team to build good solutions together.
